The Santa Maria Legal Professionals Association (SMLPA) was established in 1971. We held our first meeting and elected officers on June 3, 1971. We received our Charter at the Board of Governors Meeting in August 1971, with 32 charter members. Our meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month and Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday.
Santa Maria Legal Professionals Association is a local chapter of Legal Professionals, Incorporated ("LPI"). LPI was established in 1934 and is a nonprofit, mutual benefit corporation organized for the purpose of providing educational and professional development programs to its members.
Membership is open to any person who is engaged in providing services within the legal profession. In addition to legal secretaries, membership includes attorneys, legal assistants, court reporters, administrators, court clerks, banking trust department personnel, etc.
